On Fireflies and the So-Called Advancement

As a young child who was raised at a semi suburb area, I had hardly ever seen fireflies. I have no recollection whatsoever about the amazing insect. Have you seen fireflies? If you have, congratulations. I envy your being able to enjoy the wonder of nature.

So why do fireflies avoid flying around me? My hunch is because they are intimidated by my blinding light.
