Don’t Say Yoga is Boring before You Even Try!

So I saw this on my Twitter search result about yoga:
“@Funniest_Joke: I’ve tried yoga, but I find stress less boring.””

I cannot stress how often I am asked if yoga is about sitting all the time and closing the eyes. That is meditation, which is part of doing yoga usually done after asanas but meditation is not an entire, complete picture of what yoga is.

That picture may not be adequate enough to tell people what we do as yogis but we don’t always sit down in lotus position. We too do have fun!

Episode 5: If It’s Out of Our Control, Just Let It Go or Act Smart upon It

This morning may not be a good case for an exemplary employee. But this could be the first time I’m late to work this long.

I’ve been standing for a shade here from the sudden downpour since 8.14 am and I keep praying it’s over within minutes. But I seem to be wrong.

Anxiety, self-blame, and along comes the feeling of powerlessness. I surrender. I succumb to the bigger forces of nature: the rain, the cloud, the thunder, the climate, etc. I have no other feasible options to choose from with no umbrella or rain coat. I can’t risk my gadgets from being dampened by the rain drops either.

So I know the risks and consequences and sometimes, I have to say: waiting sucks. Surrendering sucks. You have to do something about a crisis, a force of nature, anything that goes against your plan, your will. Yeah, it doesn’t sound so yogic.

It’s a piece of intangible art of living in a yogic way to know which crisis is something to overcome or to accept as it is.

Undangan Yoga dan Meditasi Bulan Purnama 9 Oktober 2011 (Sore Setelah dari Central Park)

Sahabat pencinta damai,

Ini adalah undangan untuk Full Moon Meditation (Meditasi Lintas Agama) terbuka bagi semua yang ingin mengupayakan damai; baik bagi diri sendiri, keluarga maupun masyarakat luas tanpa membedakan agama, golongan atau label lain.

Full Moon Meditation, bertujuan untuk terus menjaga agar kita senantiasa dalam keadaan sadar sepenuhnya, sehingga mampu membangun dan menjaga kedamaian di dalam maupun diluar diri kita dengan melakukan meditasi bersama, setiap bulan purnama.

Full Moon Meditation bulan Oktober akan diselenggarakan  pada hari Minggu, 9 Oktober 2011 jam 19.00 hingga 20.30 WIB d rumah sdr. Maman, Jalan Bangka Raya 20, Kemang, Jakarta Selatan (antara Jalan Bangka XI dan Jalan Bangka IX, deket resto D’Spice ex Pasir Putih).

Bulan ini akan ada tambahan acara Yoga Gembira (bayar sukarela), yang dipimpin oleh Yudhi Widdyantoro, dari Social Yoga Club bersama Komunitas Yoga in The Park Taman Suropati pada jam 16.00.

Meditasi ini juga dapat diikuti dari jarak jauh; yaitu dengan menyelenggarakan kegitatan ini di rumah/daerah masing-masing pada waktu yang sama. Peserta dapat memberitahukan penanggungjawab masing-masing kegiatan untuk koordinasi dan penyebarluasan berita.

Marilah kita sebarkan energi damai bagi semua. Tanpa diskriminasi.

Dear Peace Makers,

This is an invitation to join a non-sectarian and non-denominational Full Moon Meditation.

The Full Moon Meditation aims to maintain mindfulness, equanimity and peace within and outside each of us by meditating together on every full moon.

This month, the Meditation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 7.00 PM to 8.30 PM at Maman’s residence, Jalan Bangka Raya 20, Kemang, Jakarta Selatan (between Jalan Bangka XI dan Jalan Bangka IX, a few doors from D’Spice restaurant ).

We have an additional program prior to the meditation: Starting at 4.00 pm, Yudhi Widdyantoro will lead a yoga session (donation) in the green garden.

You could join full moon meditation in your neighborhood, from anywhere, during every full moon.
